ALL SMILES

Surprise!  This is what I have been up to the last few days.  I am learning how to digital scrap.  I can't believe it!  I don't think I will ever go away from the traditional scrapbooking.  I am having a lot of fun learning more about my Photoshop Elements program (PSE).  I tend to buy a photo editing program, but never learn many of the features.  That is not the case now.  I am learning so much about PSE that I am happy I decided to take the dive into the digi pool.

I am so busy making cards all the time, I am trying to find ways to scrap faster.  I want to scrapbook, but have to manage my time better.  I used to spend 4 hours on a layout.  I just don't have that time anymore.  Isn't funny how time is money now!

I have blogging friends that digi scrap (Hi Jeanne and Barb!), so I decided to take advantage of Jessica Sprague's 20% off sale before Christmas.  Here is her site....Jessica Sprague.

This is the first layout I created in the online class.  These are the things I like about digi:
  • I don't make a mess when scrapping.
  • I will be able to take my laptop to my parents and Seth's parents and scrap.
  • I have a lot of every day shots that just call for one or two pics and this is a good way to scrap them.
  • I am learning more about my computer program.
  • It is fast!
I don't know what I don't like about it yet, because I haven't printed any of my layouts out.  I have a feeling I won't like the layout being ALL flat.  I am suppose to learn about making my embellishments 3-D on a future lesson, I will see if I like it.

I do have a few of questions for the digi scrappers out there.
  1. Where do you print your layouts? (home or online)
  2. Is there a certain type of paper you choose when printing online?
  3. If you print at home, do you print on your white cardstock?
  4. What is cheaper...printing at home or online?

If you want to read the journaling, you have to click to enlarge the layout.

Another avenue for digital scrapbooking is hybrid scrapbooking.  I think I might like that.  That is where you create a layout on the computer and add embellishments to it once it is printed.

Happy Stamping!

Beautiful first layout. I've been very interested in starting digital scrapbooking for the same reason you're doing it, TIME! I think they're just beautiful but I wasn't sure where to even start so I'll be keeping a close eye on your site to see how you get started, please share all your tips.

Whooo hoooo! I'm SO proud of you, Kim for taking the plunge into digi! Your layout looks GREAT!!! I think if you don't like flat layouts, then hybrid will be right up your alley.

I haven't printed too many things, but I won't print at home because I don't have a printer that can accommodate 12x12 size and I think it's more expensive in ink costs to do it at home (that may be just me). You can print at Costco or Sam's or online sites. I've used Scrapbooking Pictures and had great results.

Email me anytime with questions and I'll try to help or post on Jessica's message board.

Most of all HAVE FUN!

Love your layout. I have always wanted to learn digi, but haven't. I think I would have to do hybrid ones though. Can't wait to see more.

I am not a digi scrapper but I know of a great web-site for developing photos of anysize and scrapbook pages. I have order from them and been very happy with the price and the service. It's scrapbookpictures.com I am warning you that it will consume you at first because it is so awesome and has so many options. They have monthly sales so you can plan out your purchases as well. I too was going to take the Sprage classes but time got away from me and I didn't. Lucky I did not, Santa brought me a new Canon camera that I am learning and it would have put my brain to overload. I hope she offers a sale again. Good luck on you digi scrappin, you did a great first page.

Very cool and awesome layout! I agree with your sister Connie, he is a DOLL!!!!

Well, well, well... guess what Santa brought Vicki H. for Christmas??? Photoshop Elements 7! I've been reading a book but haven't played yet.. YOU MY FRIEND just inspired me! I KNOW I'll be on the Hybrid bus cuz I KNOW I'll not like the flat pages. :-(

Question: if people don't print them do they even get the same feeling as they do from holding and showing off a traditional page???? My family loves to see my artwork.. I'll definitely be printing my out!

Have fun! Hope to learn lots right beside you!

Happy New Year!

Well, look at YOU! Awesome layout, Kim! I am so glad you're trying digi-scrapping. I have lots of my layouts printed, I print at Costco and Staples. As for the flatness...sounds like you might like to use drop shadows. I use those to bring my elements to 'life'. I often see people touching my pages, because they think the flowers, ribbons and alphas are 'real'. I will e-mail you with some resources. I, like you, will never give up traditional scrapping, though...I'm addicted to paper! LOL! So far, so good...I can't wait to see what's next from you.
