The Supernovas and I all used the new digital stamps for our cards. I picked Do Not Open Til Christmas. He's printed on Neehah paper, and then colored with Copics. I added some liquid applique for the snow and the polar bear's hat. I wish you could see this in person, because I added stickles around the polar bear. In addition, I punched the snowflakes from white, glitter, cardstock. The patterned papers are a retired set all from CTMH.

If you've ever had a chance to play with digital stamps, they are really a lot of fun. If you wanted to resize your image, you could do that right in your image editing program.

November Scrapbook Club

Hello Everyone!

Haven't blogged in a couple of days, because I have been busy with PTA, schools and yard work. We want to get the thousands of leaves raked before it snows. You never know when that will happen in the midwest.

I wanted to show you and the ladies attending our November Scrapbook Club the layout will be creating this Saturday night. I used the CTMH scrapbook program Reflections to inspire me to create this Thanksgiving layout. For the first page, I used the layout on page 21 called "Title Topper - Photos". For the second page, I used the layout on page 23 called "Title Topper - Cover".

Gift Card Holder

Our card club meets tonight (Tuesday) and this is one of the projects we are going to make. The other is the snowman treat holder here. Gift cards are great gifts to for the holidays.

The front pocket houses a tag to signify to and from, and the back pocket holds the gift card. These are so easy to make and it is on my list of tutorials to make over the next few weeks. I will make sure I get that done in November, so you can make them in December.

What's Cookin'?

It's Monday again and that means there is another color challenge at DZ Doodles. Last week, was the first color challenge I hosted for DZ Doodles and I had fun, so we are going to continue this weekly event. I hope you can participate and have fun creating with us. Just visit the DZ Doodles site to get the colors and to link your project. You will have a chance to win a free image of your choice each week.

I used Thelma the Cook from the DZ collection. This lady is a character and is based on Diane's mother. Thelma the Cook is just one of the many Thelma images Diane has for you. I knew the perfect sentiment to use for this image. I typed it on my computer and printed it off on blush cardstock to match the pattern paper.

Here is a close up of Thelma. I didn't keep track of the copics I used. Sorry! This is one of the images I colored while at the crop last month. In the future, I will try to keep track, so I can take a picture of the copics I use. You can't see that I used clear spica on the heart. I love that pen, but it just doesn't photograph well.

Snowman Treat

My boys came home tonight with a lot of candy from trick or treating. We didn't have many trick or treaters, so we have a lot of little Hershey bars left. I decided to make a snowman treat while the boys stuffed themselves with candy. I remember pouring over my candy after trick or treating and eating my favorites first. They even shared with their parents. They are sooo sweet!

I think I will create a video for this one too!

Materials needed: white cardstock (3 1/4 x 3 1/2), black cardstock from brim (3/8 x 1 3/8), 1" square punch for top hat, 1/4" circle punch for eye and buttons, orange cs for nose and red ribbon.

Little Frankie

Since I made the BIG mummy candy bar wrapper with the GIANT Hershey bar, I thought I would cover one of the littlest Hershey bars. You know, the ones your kids bring home from trick or treating and you tell them that they taste bad, so you get them. Oh, that's just me!

Here is Little Frankie:

I have seen so many versions of Frankie that I adapted those and made mine with a little twist. These are the supplies you need:

Olive cardstock - 3 1/4 x 3 1/2

Black cardstock - 1 x 3 1/4 (need two of these)

1/4" circle punch (black circle)

1/2" circle punch (white circle and nose)

1/2" square punch

Google eyes - You could substitute little black circles for these.

BOO sentiment

White ink

Black marker

Goo Martha Stewart punch

I third generation stamped the white circles with a textured stamp to give him bloodshot eyes and then I cut them just tad bigger than the 1/4" black circle.

Would you like to see a video on how I made him? It would be a little late for this Halloween, but you could refer to it next year.

Spooktacular

I only have a couple more days to play with my Halloween images and I am having so much fun creating with all of the goodies. This is another image I finished coloring at the crop last weekend. It is Spooky Catatude #2 from DZ Doodles.

Here is a close up of my image and the spider web punch I used. Love it!

The sentiment on the outside is from the Tableau of Terror stamp set from SU!. I used the image and the complete sentiment inside the card that reads "Have a spooktacular Halloween".

Ghostly

This is one of the DZ Doodles images I colored with my Copics last weekend at the 15 hour crop I went to with my sister. I wish you could see this in person. I added Spica clear on my ghost trick or treater and it adds just the right amount of sparkle to his Halloween costume. This image is called Ghostly 2 and is available at DZ Doodles.

When I started, I decided right away I wanted to create a black & white card for this image. I added just a touch of blue to match the blue shadow I put around him. I started out with black cs (CTMH) and stamped the base in white daisy ink (CTMH) with the marble texture cube from Stampendous. The pattern paper is from Su called Night & Day Specialty.

Before I matted my ghostly figure to breeze cs (CTMH - retired), I stamped the solar white cs (Neenah) with the same marble texture cube in black ink (CTMH). I used black hemp (CTMH) to tie the trick or treat charm (unknown) to the main image then pop dotted the image to the black pattern paper.

The BOO sentiment is from the Hallow-Scream stamp set (CTMH) and I traced over it with a white gel pen (SU). For the third time, I used the marble texture cube in white daisy ink on my round tab (SU).

I placed the bats (Martha Stewart punch) so it looked like they were flying by the flourish on the pattern paper. I finished the card with the black pearls (Mark Richards).

One of the best parts about creating this card...I was watching a scary movie while creating. Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!

Love My Mummy

I do love my Mommy too! Hee Hee!

It is time to make mummy candy bars for the teachers at Tate and Tanner's school. Here is the mummy candy bar video I created last year. I thought you might want a refresher. I needed one.

There are a few of changes to my mummy bar this year.

1. The teachers are in luck...the store didn't have the regular size Hershey bars, so this year they are getting a GIANT Hershey chocolate bar. See pic below.

2. I changed the size of punches I used for the eyes. Since the candy bar is bigger, I used 1 1/4" circle punch for the outer black, 1" circle punch for the white and 3/4" circle punch for the inner black circle.

3. I crumbled the strips of cardstock just a little to distress the paper, so he isn't perfectly smooth this year.

4. I used colonial white cardstock this year instead of white.

5. I distressed my twill ribbon and the edge of the mummy.

6. Oh, I almost forgot...the strips of cardstock are 12" long. The width varies from 2" on the ones I tear both sides to 1/2" - 1 3/4" on the other ones.

I hope you can take the time this year to make some of these. Whoever receives it will love it!

Color Challenge - CC1

DZ Doodles is having their first color challenge and the colors this week are orange and black. Since this is the last week to make those Halloween projects, it is the perfect color combo. This is one of my favorite weeks of the year, because so many channels have scary movies to watch and I still get to play with my Halloween goodies.

I haven't found a Halloween image I don't like and here is another one from DZ Doodles called Jack Tower. My boys finally got to carve their pumpkins they got from the Hitchcock Nature Center Halloween celebration today, so this seemed reminded me of them.

Making Pop Dots Tutorial

I am at my sister's and I won't be posting until I get back, so I thought I would make another quick tutorial for you watch while I am on my "girls weekend". My friend, Diane, from DZ Doodles, told me how she made her own pop dots and told me I could show you. This is what I do now.

Can you believe I made this video with my son, Tanner, in the room playing the Wii. I told him he had to be quiet while I created a video tutorial. He just wanted to make sure I would show him when I was done. For some reason my boys love to watch me on these tutorials. We muted the TV and you can here the Wii remote just a little and him only once. What a great kid?

Since I have my copics packed and a lot of my card making and scrapbooking supplies for my girls weekend, I decided to make one of these cute Halloween Treat Holders for Tate. I have posted before about how he loves bats, so I used this Halloween paper from my stash. I got this idea from Andrea Walford and here is her video to make these cute holders. I thought we had more suckers to put in here, but I could only find one in the house. The boys must have found the rest. Hee Hee!

I think this treat holder would be great for Valentine's Day too.

The bat stamp is from the retired set "Trick or Treaters" from CTMH.

I am going to my sister's this weekend for a 15 hour crop, and she is holding a CTMH gathering. Yes, I get a girls weekend. YAY! I made this layout for us to create at her party. I have been wanting to use my Sarsaparilla paper. The color scheme for this pack is barn red, black, desert sand and twilight. It is masculine, but I thought this layout could be used for graduation too. It would look great with black & white photos. I didn't use any mats, so people could use any size pictures.

Heart You

I have had this DZ Doodles image, heart you, on my desk for a while now. I decided I needed to use it for two reasons: 1) I didn't want it begging me to be made into a card anymore and 2) I didn't have a lot of time to color today. That is why I like to color images ahead of time. It was nice that this one was ready and so versatile. I could use it with any paper pack. I {heart} this paper pack from CTMH called That's Amore. The reds and chocolate...yummy!

This is the first time I used my liquid pearls. The downfall I have with them is patience....I have none. I let it dry (a little), but not enough. A couple smudged. I will have to walk away next time and do something else. It is really hard to wait for something to dry, when I am putting my card together.

I made the flowers from my Pazzles Inspiration to match the pattern paper. Love those!

Here is a close up of the flower I made with my Pazzles Inspiration. I haven't used that machine in over a year. I think I am going to sell it on ebay. I like the machine, but I just don't have time to work with it like I need to do. I played with it this afternoon and really liked the flower combinations I made with it, but don't want to take the time to learn everything it does. Believe me...it does a ton! I am going to go back to my punches.

Autumn Thanks

YAY! Creating is so much fun and relieves stress. This is definitely different than what I have been creating. When I cleaned my craft room, I ran across my Tim Holtz alcohol inks. I decided to play with them today. I used butterscotch, cranberry and stream to create this background for my card. I stamped my leaves in archival black ink. They are from the Autumn Splendor stamp set by CTMH.

This card was pretty dark for me, so I spiced it up with some ocean cardstock and eyelets to match the blue in the background. Yes, those are eyelets I threaded on the black cord I tied around the background. I searched high and low to find something to match the ocean cardstock and found some eyelets (that I never use). I thought this was a cool way to use a product differently. What do ya think?

Do you own alcohol inks? Do you use them? You should. Do you know how? Would you like a tutorial? May be it would push me to start making them again.

On the Mend!

Hello!

I want to thank everyone for you encouragement and empathy about my computer problem. I know just enough to be deadly for my computer. Live and learn! I know never to do that again.

After I went to bed, I could not sleep. I was thinking about what I was going to do. Then I thought of something right before I fell asleep, and it worked for most of my file problems. I did have to install of my computer software again. Ugh! I have been doing this all day!

Now, I am working on my email contacts and bookmarks. You know all those bookmarks you have in your search engine. Well, mine are gone! I know I didn't need some of the hundred (exaggerating...a little), but I did need a few for sure.

I hope to create some tomorrow, since today has been spent being a computer gal! Now, I know why they make so much...hee hee!

Computer Boo Boo

This has nothing to do with Halloween...Unfortunately!

I just did something to my computer that made everything go away. All my files and settings....EVERYTHING! I was having problems with my computer, so I thought I would be the computer guru (NOT) and fix it by reinstalling my Vista. BAD IDEA! The computer said it was going to save everything and it did, but I don't know how to get to it or get my computer back to the way it was before the reinstall. SO! Now, I am going to run my computer to someone tomorrow and hopefully they can fix it and get it back to the way it was before I decided to ruin it. I am going to bed now and sulk! I won't be on here much until I get my computer back. I am using my DH's computer and he is patiently waiting......

I don't even want to know how much this is going to cost. Boo Hoo!

Peek-a-Boo

I am still in the Halloween mood, so I am going to play with my Halloween stamps as much as possible. This one is called Peek-A-B00 Witch from DZ Doodles. I love how she is peeking around the corner. I used pop dots, so she would even look better. This paper, Enchanted, is from CTMH and is retiring at the end of this year. I am almost out of my pack and am thinking about ordering it again.

Notice her hat and shirt. I paper pieced both of them. I started coloring her hat and saw this paper on my desk. This is exactly the color I wanted my hat to be. YAY! I love the way it looks.

I wanted to thank my friend, Jennifer Scull, for the cute purple prima I used on my card. She sent me an assortment and I am hooked. I had the sunflower one from CTMH I forgot about. Thanks again, Jennifer!

Caught In Your Web

Check out one of Diane's new releases! I can't believe I colored him, since I don't like spiders. I let the Design Team pick the categories they want for today's new releases and no one wanted the tarantula. I saw it as a challenge and I love it! I still don't like spiders, but this one is the best one I have ever seen.

Do you think he is cute, Jennifer? One of my blog friends, Jennifer, likes spiders and said they are cute. I told her that is an oxymoron. Spiders are not cute, but this spider ROCKS!

I decided to keep my card monochromatic and go with all shades of brown. I used cocoa, chocolate, brown bag and parchment cardstock all from CTMH. I used my copics to color my spider. Do ya think he is creepy? My boys and hubby love this card. It is definitely a masculine card. I just might have to give it to my DH.

Here is a close up of my tarantula! I pop dotted his body with double thick pop dots and used little ones out of cardboard for his legs. Thanks for this tip, Diane! Look at the chocolate paper to the left of the spider. Does it look like swede? I took the cardstock and sprayed it with water and crumbled it over and over until it became soft. I love this technique.

Diane let me borrow her spider web punch by Martha Stewart for the inside of my card. How do ya like the spider inside. I used the negative of the spider I cut out and sponged parchment ink to duplicate him on the inside. I wanted it to be light, so I could write on the inside.

Here is the negative or my stencil. It is a good idea to keep your negatives and use them as stencils on your projects.

October Card Club

For our October card club we made three cards. The first one is this one. I made this for last month's club, but we couldn't meet. We used the CTMH stamp set, Sensational Seals on each of the cards we made. I love layering the circle stamps on punches.

The other theme was with CTMH's Emporium paper and use our "scraps". I talked a lot about going to your scrap bin first, when you are going to make a card. In addition, using the smaller pieces for 3 x 3 cards like the one on the left in the picture. We made all of our cards on club night with my scraps. The card on the right is a flip flop card.

Here is the tutorial I made a while ago for the flip flop card. Now, I made this video on March 18, 2008, so I say "Happy St. Patrick's Day!". Wow, that was a while ago.

Yesterday, I just couldn't get my mojo going to make any cards, so I decided to digi scrap. When I was wondering through my files, I saw this layout I started with Tanner and Madison back in June that I never finished. I used the two page template, Simple Days, I bought from Jessica Sprague, when I first started digi scrapping. I had the paper and pictures finished, but I needed to add the details and some journaling. When I started this layout, Madison was still with us. I had to change the journaling to past tense when I wrote about him. These are the pictures that make me miss him, but realize how nice a kitty he was to our boys.

To see the layout better, you can click on it to enlarge. It is hard to see the details this little.I doctored the paper just a little to match Tanner's shirt. That is what I love about digi scrapping. My pictures dictate the colors and I can change whatever I want with a click of the mouse.

I used part of the same kitty digi kit as I did here by Libby Weifenbach called The Cat's Pajamas. Then I was looking up the other paper I used and was surprised to see it was designed by Libby Weifenbach also called lady teebox. I must like her style and didn't even realize it.
