Joy to the World

We received another wonderful sketch from Maria for the Christmas Stamping All Year Round group.  When I saw this I knew I wanted to go back to my Deedle-dee Doodles Christmas stamps and color.  I was afraid of the bow at the top.  If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know I am not a bow person.  I like them, but I can't make them well.

Today, I was determined to tie a bow that didn't look too bad.  I was happy with my result (see below).  I still need practice, because it took me forever...LOL!

This angel is from Diane's Christmas Decorations set.  This set is the same set that I used when I made my Nutcracker card, Christmas Tree and this Snowman card.  This is a great set to play with, especially when coloring.

I used the new designer paper, Emporium, from CTMH.  This level 2 pack is "packed" with awesome patterns.

You can see the glitter paper better here.  It really sparkles in person.  For the sentiment, I used Christmas Scripts from CTMH.

Supplies used: Paper - Emporium Level 2 (CTMH), Cranberry cs (CTMH), white and silver glitter cardstock (DCWV), Solar White Crest (Neenah), white daisy cs (CTMH); Stamp Sets - Christmas Scripts (CTMH), Christmas Decorations (Deedle-dee Doodles); Ink - black (Memento), cranberry (CTMH), copics, gold gel pen (Making Memories); Accessories - sparkles (CTMH), pop dots (unknown), white organdy ribbon (Sheer Creations), silver dot sparkles (Stampendous), D'Vine Swirls embossing folders (Cuttlebug)

Happy Stamping!

  1. Great card, Kim. Do you use the "bunny ear" method for tying your bows? I find it works well for me.

  3. Your bow looks GREAT! Keep practicing and it will come easier and faster. LOL

Love all the sparkle in this card and the fact that you are creating Christmas cards! Just think, you'll be all set for the holidays at this rate.

Question...just cuz there's a bow in the sketch...does that mean you hafta use a bow? Can you substitute another element if you wanted to?

    GREAT job! Hugs!

  4. I could have substituted something else for the bow; however, then I would be running away from my fear of bow making. I wanted to challenge myself to make one, since I never do.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone.

  5. Wow Kim!! You did an awesome job with the sketch! I think your bow is perfect! I tie my bows like a shoe lace then sort of straighten it out. It's my no fuss bow making technique! LOL!

Your card is fabulous. . that angel is adorable and you did a beautiful job coloring the image! Glad you were able to play along again! Whoohoo! We'll be seriously ahead of the game this year. I'm sort of excited about it. No more slaving away on my cards this Christmas!!
