First Card of 2011

Wow!  It seems like it has been a long time, since I have posted.  I have been keeping myself busy with the boys being on Christmas vacation.  They finally went back on Tuesday, January 4th.  I am back to my routine and happy to be back to my crafting.

I had club last night and one on Friday.  This always gets me into the creative mood.  I have three birthday cards I need to make this month.  My sister, dad and brother-in-law all have birthdays within a week of each other.  I don't have any birthday cards, so I decided to better start making them.  I love the sketch challenge over at Paper Craft Planet.  When I have been away from my craft room and need inspiration, I can always find a great sketch to get the creative juices flowing.  Check out Jessica's sketch for this week here.

My Dad's card

My father LOVES golf.  I am so happy he has a hobby, since he has retired.  He owed his own business in construction and worked his bum off until 65.  He loved his job, which helped the fact he worked long hours.  We appreciated all his hard work for us.  I am so happy he is enjoying retirement, so I wanted to make him a card that reflects what he likes to do.

I got this idea from Kim Bennett.  We will be making this card at club this month.

I was hoping the detail on the golf ball would show up.  It did when I took a close-up.

Don't ya just love how it looks like a golf ball?  Love it!  The tee is from the stamp set, On a Pedestal.  Turn the cupcake holder upside down and cover it with grass.  Another way to use your stamps outside of the box.  This is the idea I got from Kim and the golf ball.  The dimples in the golf ball were made with Backgrounds 1 Textured Plates on glossy white cardstock.

Yummy!

This is the other card I made at the card party I attended last week. Isn't it yummy! Not only the cupcake is delicious, but the colors are too. I added the pink bling when I got home. I couldn't resist.

I didn't have time to create today, because I was busy with my online photography class. I am on my second week. We are learning about apetures this week. These pictures were taken in aperture mode on my camera, which is AV. Check out how lucky I got catching the bee lifting off the flower. You can barely see him in the first picture. I hurried between settings to catch him on the flower again. Viola! He decided to take off and I caught him. YAY!

Notice how the background is blurry in the second photo. Soooo cool!

Happy Stamping!
