celebrate Thanksgiving

I have a workshop in November and the hostess (Hi Tammy!) wanted to do something with a turkey.  At first we talked about a card, but I decided a one-page layout would be better.  Of course, I am a double-page layout person, so I had to make a second page for me.  I haven't put pictures on it yet, because I want to have an incentive to take pictures this year.  I am really bad about taking pics on Thanksgiving Day.  I don't know why, but now I have a layout ready.

I used the Reflections Scrapbook Program from CTMH for the layout ideas.  These page ideas are on page 17, Title Topper - Heading and page 40, Sidebar - Original.  I used six techniques on this layout.  Check out the products listing below for them.

Thank You Scrapbook Page

My oldest son's school received a grant from the Sherwood Foundation to update the school library, so the PTA wanted to thank them by making a scrapbook of thanks from the children. I was asked to put together this scrapbook, which wasn't hard. I just designed the front cover, the inside cover and then Tate's teacher asked me to design their 1st grade page. Here is the page I did for them:


I stamped Rustic Flowers three times so I would have 21 petals. There are 21 kids in Tate's class, so this flower worked perfectly. I cut that out and took it to school to have each child print their name on a petal. Once I got that home, I designed a page around those flowers.

I'm Hooked

Okay, here is the last layout I finished over the past week. I am out of layouts now and have to go back to the creating board.

The boys have the best of both worlds. They get to go fishing with Grandpa B and golfing with Grandpa A. Here they are having fun fishing with Grandpa B.

Napping Buddies

Thanks for your comments about my first video tutorial. Now, that I know how to create one I will be able to make more.

I thought it was safe to make my tutorial, because my boys and husband were out of the house and then THAT DARN CAT! Yes Jeanne, that noise in the background is the cat's automatic litter box. I didn't notice it, when I was taping the tutorial. When I watched it I couldn't believe what I heard. How did he know to go in his room and interrupt my quiet household? I wasn't going to start from scratch, so I left it hoping no one would notice. I was wrong...you are astute, Jeanne! I will turn it off next time....LOL!

Some of you asked questions about how I made the tutorial. Here are the answers:

All my inspiration is from Dawn at Dawn's Stamping Thoughts. I love her videos and wanted to try them too! I used my digital camera on a tripod in front of my chest and I worked around it. I have Windows Movie Maker (which Dawn uses) and downloaded it there to work with it. Thank God for my nephew Jacob, who walked me through how to write instructions on the video and how to publish it. Then I opened a You Tube account and uploaded it to my account there. Once it was uploaded I copied the tag to the Edit Html tab in blogger. Viola it was finished! It did take most of the day to figure out, but now I know how to complete the process. Next time it should be a little smoother, especially if I turn off the cat box. Hee Hee!


I am posting early today, because I have a technique class tonight. I really like this layout, because of my wonderful boys and cat. They are such great buddies. Who am I kidding? I like all of my layouts, because that is the reason I started this hobby in the first place.

Paper - Free Spirit Level 2 paper pack, cocoa cardstock, dutch blue cardstock, white daisy cardstock

Stamp sets - Homestead alphabet, Memory Labels, solo "c"

Ink - dutch blue, cocoa

Layout Class

I showed you the card class I am offering in January. Well, in February I will be offering a layout class with this WINTER theme. I got this idea from a consultant on the bulletin board, but I forget her name. Of course, I used different stamp sets (Bundled Up and Glistening Snow), color scheme (ocean, vineyard berry, desert sand) and paper packet (Just Chillin').

Here is page one of the two page spread. I used white daisy pigment ink for the title. When I use pigment ink, I need to be more patient than with dye-based. It doesn't dry that quickly, so sometimes I use my heat gun to speed up the process.

The big snowflake is a Christmas ornament I got from Target during the Christmas season. It is not archival, so it will be an optional item for those who attend the class.


Here is page two of the layout. I used white daisy pigment ink for the snowflakes/stars to match the pattern paper from the first page. In addition, I used it on the sentiment, which reads "All bundled up for a warm holiday season." I added a little bling on this page, because I am into bling at the moment.


Oh, I wanted to correct myself on yesterday's post. The stamp set I used was Delight in Everything not Let's Get Together. Let's Get Together is the paper pack that goes with that stamp set. Sorry!

Caprice Thanks

I made this card for a technique board I am making to display different paper distressing techniques. This shows paper tearing. Now, I have to use a different paper packet, so it will be sent to someone instead of being displayed. I liked how the card turned out with the Indian Corn Blue cardstock base. This is a new paper pack from the CTMH fall/winter idea book. It looks much better IRL, especially when used with the blue paper. The "T" is from the new Homestead Alpha "E" sized set. Hope you like it!

Here is a double page layout that I had posted on the same display board. I am working on replacements with the Free Spirit paper pack.

On my last post, I forgot to include the stamp set I used, which was Little Girls. I was in a hurry to go to bed early and forgot to write that. Sorry! My wonderful DH put the boys to bed, so I could go to sleep early and I got to sleep at 8 p.m. YEAH! I felt so refreshed in the morning. I think I was a little too peppie for everyone in the morning. I kept singing and dancing around. I had a reason...our wedding anniversary was Tuesday, November 20th (8 years).

I hope to post Wednesday night for Thursday, but I don't think I will have anything for Thursday night.
