Coloring in PSE

I love to learn new things, especially on the computer.  I finally took the time to learn how to color my digital images in Photoshop Elements.  Of course, Susanna Boyd (of Card of the Week and Paper Craft Planet) was a big help  with this video.  She colors her image in Photoshop CS4.  The only part I saw that is different is where the gradient tool is in PSE.  My gradient tool is underneath the paint bucket in the tool bar.  I have PSE 8, but I think it would be the same other PSE versions.

I love my copics to color (you know that), but I felt like coloring this image Flowered Heart by DZ Doodles in Photoshop, because I wanted to add my sentiment in Photoshop after I colored the image.

After I colored my image in PSE, I printed two images.  I cut out the flowers of the second image with my xacto knife to layer them on the first image.  Love it!

January Scrapbook Club

The scrapbook club is perfect this year for my New Year Resolution on creating more scrapbook layouts.  I made this layout for the club members to create this Saturday at our club meeting.  Normally, I don't have pictures for my layout to show them.  When I was making this layout, I remembered I had pictures of Tanner taking naps with us.  The tag reads, "Tanner never passes of the opportunity to nap with someone.".  He is so lovely he will always take a nap, especially if he gets to hold your neck like Grandma Burmeister let him do during their nap (page 2). 

I started off creating with my Reflections Scrapbook Program by CTMH.  I used the layout ideas on pages 22 and 32.  I saw the MOMENTS title on page 22 and decided to use that in my title.  I was going to create the title Cherish the Moments; however, I wanted my MOMENTS page to be the first page.  I thought of  MOMENTS to REMEMBER and went with that.  Once I was building my pages, I printed my Tanner pictures, matted and embellished around them.

Button, Button Who's Got the Button...

Sparkle's challenge this week for a Christmas card is to use buttons.  I love buttons, so this was a fun one!

See the gingerbread's leg...I couldn't resist (hee hee)!  I have seen this on blogs with a chocolate Easter bunny.  This sketch is created by Wendy at Paper Craft Planet for this week's sketch challenge here.  Wow!  If I can make one card for more than one challenge, I am all over that.  AND  This month's Design Team theme at Paper Craft Planet is SWEETS, so there ya go...I got that challenge covered too.  YAY!

New Year's Resolution

I am one of those people who make New Year's Resolutions with the best intentions.  Of course, I make too many of them and try to keep all of them, but some just don't continue after January.  One of my resolutions this year to to scrap more.  I would LOVE to scrap one layout a week, but I feel that is a HUGE goal, so I am just going to make the goal of scrapping more than last year.  What is sad about this goal is I didn't scrap much last year, so more than that won't be much...hee hee!

I am starting the year off right with a layout for each of my boys.  Of course, in digital scrapbooking I just have to change the pictures and journaling, if I have the same layout for both Tate and Tanner.  That is one of my favorite reasons I love to digital scrap.  Boy, am I a little rusty!  It took me a while to get these done.  I am sure if I scrap more, I will create faster.  That is what I am going to tell myself.  I am so indecisive about paper, etc.  I have to try every piece that comes in the kit just to make sure it is the best one.  I made a few purchases at Sweet Shoppe Designs for layouts I knew I needed to create.  This kit is made by Julie Billingsley and is called Falling For You.  It is on sale right now for 30% off.  I love the colors and the owl is so cute.

Oh, I almost forgot....I used templates by B. Clarkson.  I got these templates for free some time in 2009, so I don't have a direct link...Sorry!

Diane at DZ Doodles has new releases for the new year and they are perfect for Valentine's Day.  I chose one of her boxed images called Boxey Bear Feet.  I love these stamps!  So much fun to color!

Little Thanks

Besides cleaning up after Christmas, I have been cutting materials for my January card class. I had a lot of scraps left, so I decided to make 3 x 3 thank you cards.  I am going to make more of these for birthdays, so I can use them with gift bags.  They are so little and cute!

This gave me the idea to have my club members make a bunch of these too!  We can use the scraps from my scrap drawers and I might still have more scraps left.  I don't throw much away regarding paper.  In fact, when I get overwhelmed by my scraps, I put them into bags and give them to my club members.  I hope they can use them this way too.

Christmas Cupcake Challenge

For some reason, I have been into challenges lately.  There are many times I see challenges and think....Oh, that would be fun to do, then never get around to it.  I have been making time for the challenges and having fun with them.  Sparkles Christmas card challenge this week is inspired by chocolate cupcakes with light blue frosting and white snowflakes.  I knew I wanted to use a snowman for my card and remembered I still had some pieces of the Aspen paper by CTMH left.  I love brown in any color combination.

Check out my snowman.  I went to my paper pieces drawer first and saw I had a white piece that was crumbled.  I love that paper technique for snowmen, because they are not smooth.  Well, at least ours aren't.  I used my nesties to cute him out and mat him with scallops.  I watercolored my image with my ink pads and waterbrush.
