Tutorial Tuesday - Criss Cross Card

Here is the No Waste Criss Cross Card I posted last week. These directions are from Lynn Birus, who posted the directions on SplitCoastStampers. These are so easy to make and you don't waste any paper to make the criss cross section. YAY!

Happy Birthday All Star

I am still on the masculine theme. This card just evolved while I sat at my scrap table. I had this card with It's A Guy Thing pattern paper sitting on my desk, so I decided I would start with it. I had two little holes pierced towards the bottom, so I decided to cover them up with a piece of New England Ivy cardstock that I distressed with Cocoa ink. Hmmm! What do I do next?

I cut a piece of Barn Red cardstock and decided I would use my Cuttlebug embossing folders. I chose Tiny Bubbles to match the circles on the pattern paper. After I embossed it, I distressed it by rubbing the Cocoa pad over the embossed bubbles. Wow! All I could think of were basketballs, so I took my Let's Play Ball stamp set and stamped a basketball over the bubbles and cut them out. Now, I needed to make a sports card, so I decided to make a Birthday sports card.

I pulled out my SPORTS stamp set and saw the "all star" sentiment. I stamped it with Cocoa ink on Bamboo cardstock and anchored it with edge anchors. I used Bamboo brads instead of using the same color as the anchor. Okay, now how could I get Happy Birthday on the card without it looking like two sentiments sitting on top of each other. Hello! I could use my solo letters and the Happy Birthday stamp set.

I stamped the "h" and "b" in Bamboo ink on Bamboo cardstock, so the sentiment "HAPPY" and "BIRTHDAY" would show up in Barn Red. As I had said before, I don't like light colors without a border, so I ran my New England Ivy marker along the edge of both the solo letters. The letters looked bare on the card, so I added New England Ivy designer ribbon to the 'h" and placed the basketballs around the card on pop-dots. This made the balls jump off the card.

I didn't think I liked the card at first, but now I do. It is fun to start from scratch and just keep adding to a card until you feel it is done. It is scarier to do this, because you don't have a pattern or format to follow. It does get your creative juices flowing. Hope you like!

Have a great weekend and Happy Stamping!

Tag - I'm It!

I have been tagged by Inky Prints left by Inkyfingerz.

I am supposed to share seven random and/or weird facts about myself. Hmmm!
  1. I hate swimming in lakes, ponds, even oceans. I don't like to swim with fish and I have a phobia about sharks attacking me. I think that is because JAWS is one of the scariest movies to me, and I watch it every time it is on TV.
  2. In my twenties, I owned over 60 pairs of shoes and now...I have only about 15. Four of them are running shoes that I wear most of the time.
  3. My parents were going to name me "Bruce" if I was a boy.
  4. Those of you who know me KNOW I really hate spiders. My worst nightmare would be spiders after me on land and then sharks in the water....LOL!
  5. My favorite girl name is Elizabeth Mary.
  6. I love eating taco pizza at Happy Joe's Pizza Parlor. I grew up on that pizza and I haven't found anything better. I drag my mom there every time we visit my parents.
  7. I love hedgehog stamps by Penny Black. I only have one, because the scrap stores in Omaha don't sell them. I love seeing the cards people make with those cute little guys.
Okay so the rules are...

SC169 - You Rock

I participated in the SplitcoastStampers sketch challenge again this week. Here is the sketch:

Here is my card:

I hope you can tell by all the shadows on the card how I used pop dots behind the two blue stars and the arrow. When I saw this stamp set, Star Struck, the first thing that popped in my mind was "You Rock". The sweet leaf star is stamped, but the blue ones are punched out of the Good Times pattern paper and adhered to cardstock to make them sturdy, so I could use pop dots. I just love this new paper pack by CTMH too. Boy, I have been in the masculine card mood lately! Hope you like!

My friend, Jeanne, found the person who created the No Waste Criss Cross card, so I might make that one next week. Thanks, Jeanne!

AND I have been tagged by Inky Fingers and will work on that for tomorrow, hopefully!

All the stamp sets are listed in the labels under this post.

Criss Cross Invitation

I made this a few weeks ago. It is the template I am going to use for my hubby's 40th birthday party celebration this year. I am going to change the base to Cranberry; otherwise, everything will stay the same.

I used It's A Party stamp set, which is a favorite of mine. The paper is from Birthday Bash (retired). You can click on the pictures to see the detail.

I have this on my list of video tutorials, because I found directions where you don't waste a lot of paper making a criss cross card. I can't find the author's name of the directions I have right now. I am going to to try find her name before I complete the video, so I can give her credit. If I can't, I will have to hope someone knows her and will let me know her name. Her directions are named "No Waste Criss Cross Card".

Tutorial Tuesday - Waterfall Card

I had a few requests for this tutorial and my sister has been bugging me to make one too! This video is a little longer than the rest, but I don't think it will bore you too much! Third time was a charm this week too.

I have found very few CTMH blogs, most are SU. I have yours in my google reader so I read every post you write. I love your videos...very nice. I am a relatively new stamper(few months) so I am not sure what techniques are out there. I like the things that are different from the traditional card. Either moving pieces, opening differently, etc. Thanks for asking and thanks for offering the blog candy.

Please email me your snail mail address at stampfest@cox.net.

My Pazzles is coming! My Pazzles is coming!

My Pazzles is scheduled to be delivered on Monday. My UPS guy better watch out...I might tackle him to get my new toy! My sister got hers on Friday and she hasn't played with it yet! She didn't even know she got it until I called her to check her tracking. It said hers was delivered and she asked her son. "Oh, yeah! You did get a big package." We teased each other about who would get it first and she won! Since she didn't play with hers yet, I told her that I should have gotten mine first. Yes, I need to read more of my Kindness book.

Okay, I was asked to provide the link of the Pazzles Inspiration, so you could see what I saw when I just had to have this wonderful machine. Here it is:

Pazzles Inspiration

There is a little window underneath the picture that shows video. Click on that to see the HSN presentation they aired on TV.

Thanks for all of your great suggestions and nice comments on the blog candy post. I will be drawing a winner on Monday and posting who won on Tuesday with my video tutorial.

Sketch Challenge 168

I didn't know what to create this morning, so I visited SplitcoastStampers site to check out the card sketch challenge for this week. Here it is:

And here is my card:

I used the new Just Like Me stamp set, because I just got it yesterday and it was sitting on my desk. I need a card for my dad this year, so I am really early on this one. I put pop-dots behind the sentiment to make it stand out on the card. I don't think you can see it (maybe if you enlarge it by clicking the picture), but I used my Spots & Dots Cuttlebug folder on the little outdoor denim paper in the upper right hand corner. For embellishments I used small outdoor denim spirals, outdoor denim ribbon rounds, cranberry bigger brad, natural hemp and to top it off I used a clear inspirational "Love". I chalked the word to make it blue.

Colors used: Outdoor Denim, Cranberry, Bamboo, Crystal Blue and Majestic Blue Level 2 paper pack.

Oh, I forgot to mention to round the bottom corners of the card. I always like the look and forget to do it. I finally remembered. YAY!

BLOG CANDY

Do you want some blog candy? Well, I am celebrating 20,000 hits! That is good for me. I didn't realize my blog made it past that milestone for me already. All you have to do is leave a comment on what type of card or technique you would like to see me create in a video tutorial and you are entered in the drawing.

Some of you have told me you do not know how to leave a comments. Look at the bottom of this post and you will see little words and/or numbers that shows, i.e. o comments, 1 comments, 2 comments, etc. There is a little envelope and pencil by it. Click on that line and it will take you to a window to leave a comment. You type your comment in the box, and click Name/URL and it will open a little box for your name. To enter your comment click publish your comment. Oh, don't forget to put the secret code in the box under your comment. This is to help stop spam.

This packet of goodies will include rub-ons, stickers, CTMH edge distresser, embossing pen, baby embellishments and I will throw is some this and thats I come across in my scraproom.

Hostess Gift Box

I got this project from Patty at Patty's Stamping Spot. I just loved her hostess gift and decided to make one for my next hostess that holds a themed party. I really like the colors of her set, because they are so cheery and bright. I went with a paper pack I haven't used much. This set of paper and stamps are not available at this time from CTMH. I have extras, if you are interested.

Everything is made out of paper even the box. The box contains four 3 x 3 thank you cards with envelopes that match. All products are CTMH except for the sentiment on the front and the scallop punch that are from SU.

Tutorial Tuesday - Flip Flop Card

Okay, I was in a hurry this morning trying to get my video tutorial done before I picked Tanner up from pre-school, so I forgot to take a picture of my card until after I uploaded my video to YouTube.

I like it when I put the card at the end of the video and I will try to slow down next time. I had problems with my camera this morning shutting off half-way through taping, so I had to create this card three times. I was getting a little frustrated. All right, more than just a little. You will see that subconsciously at the end of this video. I didn't even realize I did "that" until I watched it. LOL!

I have the camera in a different position this time. I learned this trick from Dawn at Stamp Til Dawn. She puts the camera in front of her and video tapes upside down. Then the program turns the video 180 degrees, so you can see it from her viewpoint. AWESOME! I tried this today and it worked. It is a lot easier taping this way than from the side or in back of me. I don't have to worry about getting my head in front of the camera. YAY! Thanks, Dawn!

Here is the card I made for this tutorial:

Enjoy the video!

Pazzles Inspiration

Okay, I had to show you what I bought this weekend. Christine at Creativity Calling is the enabler. She showed this on her blog on Friday and I was hooked. I researched it and watched all the videos I could find on this spectacular machine. Now, I just have to wait for it to get here. Thanks, Christine! I am glad you showed us this wonderful cutter, which is 12 x 12.

I bought mine from HSN too, so I hope Christine doesn't mind me borrowing the picture she posted on her blog to show you this:

I didn't think I would EVER purchase an electronic tool; however, this machine does it all! And I mean ALL! It cuts everything, embosses, writes journaling, and you can save any image on your computer and hook it up to this beaut! You can copy your child's handwriting and use it as journaling or save the first time they write their name. I think that is what sold me on it. I can copy all of my kids artwork and use it on their pages. YAY!

Enough gushing over my new toy! Check back tomorrow for a tutorial on a flip flop card.

UR remarkable

Earlier this month, I posted a gift card holder. Well, here is another type of gift card holder that is soooo cute! I got this from Dawn at Dawns Stamping Thoughts. In fact here is her video on how to make this adorable card. It is so easy and simple. Her blog is awesome too! She is the one who inspired me to start making video tutorials. Here is my version of this card:

Recipe:

Paper - Good Times Level 2 paper pack, Chocolate cs, Sweet Leaf cs, Buttercup cs

Stamp sets - Boutique Alphabet, Solo R

Embellisment - Chocolate grosgrain ribbon (I put this on my card, because mine didn't want to stay closed.), pop dots, mat pack (SU), brown lunch bag

I added a category or label feature to my sidebar that I named Artwork. This shows my artwork listed under the stamp set or sets I used. I hope this helps when you are trying to find ideas for stamp sets you own. I have one category named No Sentiment. I will put my artwork that does not have a sentiment on the front. I like to make these sometimes, so they fit any occasion I need a card. I am labeling all of my new posts and going back on my old posts, so it will take a while to get it completely updated. Please be patient (Connie)!

Notice my signature at the bottom. I have seen this on blogs and like the personal touch it adds. It is funny, because I was trying to figure out how to do this, when my good friend Jeanne wrote me an email about how to do it. Thanks, Jeanne! She has the site listed on her blog, if you want to check it out.

Cupcake Birthday

Here is another card I cased from Kristina at kwerenerdesign.

I have never made a round card before and wanted to try it. Just get out your coluzzle to cut the circle leaving an edge. All the paper is from unknown sources from my sister's stash. The stamp sets used are Thoughtful Scripts (CTMTH) and a hostess set, Cause for Celebration(SU).

Notice all the shadows on the card. This show all the places where pop dots are used. I love how she popped up the cupcake icing. Very cool! See her make it card Monday below where she shows how to make this card.

You might have noticed changes I have made to my sidebar and the bottom of my blog. I put a weather girl, my video tutorials, and a calendar on my sidebar. At the bottom of my blog, I put a slideshow of some of my cards. Presently, I am working on assigning categories to my cards, so it will list them on the sidebar by stamp set. That way if you want to see examples of a particular stamp set you can browse the categories and click on one that you want to see. I am hoping this works and will take a while to go back through all of my past posts to label them. I think it is a good resource and is worth the time. I always like to see what people create with stamp sets I own.

hello

Yesterday, I wrote that my sister and I cased cards and other projects last weekend. Here is a simple card I just thought was so cute from Kristina at kwernerdesign.com.

I am not sure what pattern paper and ribbon we used, because we just raided her stash of paper she has had for a long time. The card base is sweet leaf cardstock from CTMH and the hello letters are sizzix dies in glitter paper.

Here videos inspired me to add music to mine. I just love her make a card Monday.

Tutorial Tuesday - Wood Fence

First, I would like to say I had an AWESOME weekend at my sister's. My mom came to visit with us while we created projects. I didn't bring much of my supplies, since she has a scrapbook store in her house too...LOL!

We decided to CASE cards and other paper projects. We send each other links to what we like and finally sat down together to play. I will show you some of what we did later this week with links to the sites we used.

Now, for Tutorial Tuesday this week. It took me most of the morning and the first part of the afternoon to figure out how to create a video with voice over and music at the same time. I know, I know you like to hear me talk through the project. Well, I like the videos I see with music, so how about a compromise? Okay! In addition, I won't be rambling if I get to add music. We both should love that. Again, keep in mind that this is the first one like this. I was proud of myself for figuring this out on my own. The help menu was not much help and the book I got from the library was too basic. ENJOY!

Now, it is your turn!

Wooden Fence

I was browsing through my binder of cards, etc. I have printed off the internet that I like and came across a card that had a technique where you make a wooden face. This is so easy and looks so cool. I have only made a card with this technique once, so I decided to try it again.

Recipe:

Cardstock: white daisy, new england ivy, pansy purple
Reinkers: bamboo, brown bag, desert sand, cocoa
Ink: pansy purple, new england ivy, garden green
Stamp sets: Rustic Flowers, thank you (Heidi Swapp)
Embellishments: button from CTMH autumn collection, purple fibers (unknown), new england ivy bigger brads, EK Success ticket punch, CTMH black marker, ruler, old toothbrush

Tune in next week for a video tutorial showing how I made this card.

I have been trying to find the link to the gift card holder I posted, because so many of you would like the directions. If I can't find the link, I will try to post the pics and directions I have and hopefully the person who created will claim it. I do not want to take credit for such great directions. I will keep you posted.

Edited: Jeanne, I changed my banner just a couple of weeks ago. I kept forgetting to make a comment about it. I am glad you like it. I needed a little change, but you know how much I love trees. I had to keep my trees!

Gift Card Holder

I made a bunch of these last weekend. It was the first time I tried this project and was amazed how easy they came together. The instructions were great. I got them from my sister, who got them from the internet. Isn't the internet great?

Here is the front of the gift card holder and it has a ribbon to tie it shut.

Here is the inside where you can see I put a gift card. These little holders are an awesome way to give someone a gift card.

I have so many of these I can't use them all, so I have some for sale...$2.00 each or 6 for $10.00. Shipping is only $1 extra. Please email me (stampfest@cox.net), if you would like to purchase some. I will sell them on a first come first serve basis.

BTW, thanks for all of your nice comments regarding my video tutorials. I think I am going to include my voice instructions, a little music and of course, my written comments.

Thanks for stopping by!
